These heavily textured, eco friendly, Fair Trade placemats are practical, durable and beautiful. You can machine wash and tumble dry them and they will last forever. The intricate design is achieved by putting extra heavy hand spun colored cotton in the weft and using a 4-harness loom. Sabahar introduced and then trained its weavers on this 'rep weaving' technique. They are hemmed at the sides while the top and bottom are selvedge edges. They are named after the iconic city of Gonder in northern Ethiopia.
