As the night’s candles burn low you can, of course, blow them out and take your chances with molten wax. We have some friends who like to wet their fingers, grab the flame and pretend it doesn’t hurt. For our part we love the ceremony of a candle snuffer. We love to watch the curling trail of smoke from the extinguished flame, as if the spirit of the evening slowly rises and vanishes into the night.
